J for "Jammies"

I'm talking about pyjamas :)

I used to wear T-shirt and shorts or pants in summer when I sleep, but last year, I realized that nightdresses are much more comfortable in sweltering nights.  I have a few already, but I decided to get another one today.  (Don't remind me that I'm nearly broke now.)  It is a long pyjama top.  I was going to wear it alone, but when I tried on at home, it was a bit too short to wear as a dress.  But with shorts underneath it, it is pretty nice.  Now, I think I have enough nighties to sleep well through this hot season.

Mine is the one with bigger checkered pattern.

I for "Icons of Summer"

What represents summer for you? Heat? Swimsuit? Or beach? There are some summer icons for me, but let's talk about some of them here.

1. Sandals
Actually, I'm not a big fan of high-heeled sandals since they hurt my feet even more than high-heeled shoes. But I love those.
Birkenstock!!

My mom opposes the idea of me wearing them for work, but why not? They put my feet into right shapes. I have another pair, exactly the same model in white, but left them in my friends' storage in Vancouver ;( So I am very happy to get ones.

2. Ice cream
I know ice cream is good in any time of the year, but these days, I'm craving for it! I remember investing (wasting?) lots of money into smoothies when I lived in Canada, but summer calls for frozen dessert! I found a fancy, and of course, very tasty gelato shop in Omotesando. I don't go there often, but next time I have some errands in that area....hmm-mm, you know where I will head to ;)

3. Ice packs
Since last year, ice pack has been my good friend during summer time. What for? To get a good-night sleep. My bedroom is VERY hot when the air conditioning is not on. Even though I open small windows, no wind would come in. Hot air just stays to steam me up. I found this ice pack makes it a bit easier to keep sleeping till the morning comes. This summer, I will need it even more. Today, I got small ice packs to wrap around my neck. I should be all right when power cut happens in the middle of summer.

So, what are your summer icons?

H is for "HOT"

HOT.

Yes, in big capital letters. It's crazy. Today is July 1st, just beginning of summer I thought. But this muggy weather started in June and now keeps threatening us. I really have to purchase some goods to stay cool, such as a cooling pad for my bed or cooling scarf. Otherwise, I don't think I can survive while saving electricity.

This weather becomes a little better at night. Last Sunday, my friends and I went to a firefly festival in Yomiuri Land. I had no idea there was such an event there. Foreigners know more than locals, you see... I don't remember when was the last or only time I saw fireflies, but must have been a long time ago. Those glowing creatures are much smaller than I thought, but they were great enough to impress me in the darkness. The best thing was, I wasn't bitten by mosquitoes at all though we waited for a long time in a grassy field
to get in to the viewing area .

I think it is about time to change the top picture of this blog to something more summery. That means, I have to go out to find another cake that is more suitable for this season! Excuses, excuses.... ;)
